This original queenslander was restored to a magnificent modern home, retaining the character and warmth of the existing building. The clients scope was to revive an old timber house for a new growing family, raise and build in under while retaining much of the existing character and charm. The new design must work with the central feature gable and bay window to continue the theme in the new additions below and balance the facade.
The living areas were built in the newly constructed downstairs area with a high ceiling to create open spaces that extends to the alfresco connecting to the pool and backyard.
To create privacy the main bedrooms are up stairs with a retreat for a quiet place to be. A centrally located stair opens up the house to light and air flow and is well positioned to be practical and accessible
The Master Bedroom is orientated North and captures views to the park across the road. Reconfiguration of the existing layout afforded a good sized ensuite and walkin robe to the master bedroom
A mix of modern finishes as well as the original compliments the design and character of the home. The feeling is elegance but not overstated. The clients now have a modern working and practical home, one that is much more efficient and comfortable than the old one.
This project was awarded Best Renovation, at a design award, something Neo and the client are proud of. Our thanks to the Bullens for creating an outstanding renovation.
